We’re looking for an experienced Corporate & Commercial Solicitor to join Talbots Law as a Director in our Stoke office. This is an opportunity for an established Lawyer who wants more than simply managing a caseload.

You’ll have the autonomy to develop your practice, strengthen existing client relationships, build new ones and play an influential role in the continued growth of our Corporate & Commercial offering.

What does the job involve? 

You’ll manage a varied portfolio of high-quality Corporate & Commercial matters, advising business owners, companies, directors, shareholders and partnerships across the region.

Your work will include:

• Business and company sales, mergers and acquisitions.
• Asset and share purchases.
• Company restructures and corporate governance.
• Shareholder agreements and articles of association.
• LLP and partnership agreements.
• Commercial contracts, including terms of business, supply, distribution, service and franchise agreements.
• Providing strategic and general commercial advice to businesses and their owners.

*         As a Director, you’ll be expected to be visible in the market, develop and deepen client and referrer relationships and identify opportunities to grow both your own practice and the wider Corporate & Commercial team.

*         You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues across the firm, with the opportunity to generate cross-referral opportunities through our wider commercial and private client services.

*         You’ll also have the opportunity to support the development of the Lawyers around you, sharing your experience and helping Trainees, Paralegals and fellow Lawyers progress their careers.

What do you need? 

We’re looking for someone who has already established themselves as a credible Corporate & Commercial lawyer and is ready to play a significant role in the future growth of the department.

You’ll ideally have:

• A minimum of 8 years’ PQE as a qualified Solicitor.
• Significant experience across Corporate & Commercial matters.
• An existing client following or clear evidence that you can originate work, build a network and quickly develop a following.
• Strong business development instincts and the confidence to represent Talbots in the regional business community.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
• A commercial, pragmatic approach to legal advice.
• The confidence to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the firm.
• A genuine interest in mentoring and developing other lawyers.
• Strong connections to the region and flexibility to meet clients and contacts across our office network.
